Baseball Recruiting Questions asked

Resolved Question: Should I play College Football or MLB baseball?

Good afternoon guys. I was wanting to enlist the advice of some of my yahoo buddy's to possibly help decide my future. I am a senior in highschool in Texas. I play tight end/ defensive end and I am a 5 star recruit and can go anywhere. I'm 6'7 250, run a 4.6 and camp out in back fields when I want. I'll probably go to UT, or Oklahoma if I pursue that. As a baseball player I am a pitcher that throws 95-97 and projected top 10 pick of the first round. I will make about 10 million for a signing bonus for baseball but I think I like football more, although it will be 3 years until I make money in football and I don't know if I want to wait that long. Also, I think if i entered the draft and blew out my arm I could always come back and play football. What would you guys do if you had the talent I have? more

Resolved Question: would you consider these stereotypes of houston high schools true?

*Memorial High School- I live in one of the richest parts of Houston and my house is the size of a Dinosaur. If I am a girl I drive a Mercedes or BMW, if I am a guy I drive a Tahoe or some other kind of large SUV. We are like Bellaire and Lamar times 10. Our school is about as diverse as an Abercrombie catalogue and looks just like it. We party every weekend because we are rich, bored and have nothing else better to do with our lives. Our football team is pretty good and Roger Clemens' son went here I think. We say we have the "hottest girls in Houston " and we mean it. Our mascot is the same as the ultimate snob college: SMU. I am a Mustang. *Katy,Taylor and Cinco HS - I live in an area that is really nice but its cheap as hell. Our parents could not afford to live in memorial or bellaire.I might drive a car that is worth more than my house. We are considered "hicks" by the inner houston kids.If im a girl i am blonde and will probably have skin cancer really soon. Our football team is among the best in the nation due to D-ball and other steroids. We have field parties and everyone gets laid. If im a guy, i love to get in fights. If im a girl i love to sleep with my best friends bf. I am a Tiger. *St. Thomas High School- I am probably white and preppy or I drive a big truck and pretend to be a cowboy. My truck has a lift and giant wheels even though I live in River Oaks. My granddaddy, my dad, my uncle and my brothers went to St. Thomas , I couldnt go anywhere else or I would be dead. We act like homosexuals, but if you show any signs of actual homosexuality you are as good as dead. We go to football games, but we don't cheer or give a shit because our team sucks and all we are interested in is meeting girls. I haven't seen a minority in years. I hate fish, I love beer. I am an Eagle. *St. Pius High School- Even though I am probably white and middle class, I pretend to act like a prep or a cowboy. I am neither because I can not afford the clothes and accessories to be those things. I either got rejected from St. Thomas or St. Agnes and thats why I am here. My school is a dump, but I don't care because we have girls, unlike St. Thomas . We hate St. Thomas because they are a real school and call them "gay" even though we have more gay students. I think our football team is good, but I dont go to games because I don't own a car. I am a Panther. *Lamar High School- I am either a rich white kid or desperately poor. We have so many cliques because for some reason every group under the Sun goes to our school. There are the "IB Students" who segregate themselves from the normals. Our school is the size of a small town in Texas and our school would explode if we had anymore people. Football team? Yeah I they are good but I dont go to games because either I am too busy with my mercedes or can't afford to attend the games. I am a Redskin. *Strake Jesuit College Preparatory- I live in Sugarland or some other suburb and I have long hair. I drive a Passat because I pretend to be an environmentalist. It doesnt matter who you talk to on our campus, they have all smoked pot at one point. Even though we are snobs who couldnt care less about other people we pretend to be "men for others". I hate people from Katy almost as much as I hate St. Thomas . For some reason my school is located between Chinatown and a ghetto. We have a good football team, but I wasnt allowed to play any sports because I wasn't recruited. I love St. Agnes girls, any other girls are scum. I play hacky sack, I dip and I listen to Phish. I am a Crusader. *Bellaire High School- I live in a city that considers itself too good for the city of Houston . Even though I am rich, I am not above using lots of drugs and behaving like a total ass. There are lots of hot girls at my school, but they are all reserved for football and baseball players. I hate the baseball team and baseball players, I used to play baseball at some point in my life, but I sucked. I drive an SUV or a sports car and I love to flaunt it. I am a Cardinal. *Stratford High school- I live in the "poor" area of memorial, that is the under a million part.I am upper middle class ,but compared to memorial kids i am poor.We hate westside and they hates us.I go to a school with no windows. Theres never anything to do on the weekends except for whataburger. Unlike memorial kids...i dont drive a brand new BMW,but a used lexus. I know everything about everybody and everybody knows everything about me.I go to parties that get busted before they even start. We are known for our prude girls and having the best good looking guys. Our football team always gets their ass kicked by Memorial... I am a Spartan. *St. Agnes Academy- I am probably a rich girl. I drink a lot and if I'm really adventurous, I smoke. Mommy and Daddy wanted me to go to a school in a "Christian" environment, so they put me in the biggest drama filled shark tank in the city of Houston . For the St. Thomas/Strake rivalry, we choose sides by which school has the cutest guys. We are the ultimate sister school, not IWA or Duschene. We also have an all boys school next door, unlike them. HAHA. We love to have dances, even though they usually suck. I would be in a sport, but omygawsh have you seen their uniforms. I am a Tiger. *Episcopal High School- I live in the Bellaire area, but it doesnt really matter where I live because I still have more money than you. I am rich beyond your wildest dreams, yet I constantly screw up and get busted with drugs. If you don't have a laptop you better get one and if you dont have a BMW or Mercedes you better get one. Did I mention we really love drugs here. Even though we are a "religious" school, we have almost no religion in our lives at all. Our lacrosse team is pretty good, but I don't even know what that is. Have fear, I am A Knight. *Westside High School revised- Our school looks likea resort and since we are a new school, we have not been totally filled with undesirable people, drugs and crime(until now). I live either in the ghetto or in a rich area(probably the ghetto). Our school is full of New Orleans kids.We provide most of the drugs to all the rich schools, and break into their cars while doing it.If im a girl i am probaly dating a black guy or a wigger. If your looking for some weed let me know. I am a Wolve. *St. Johns School- We are pretty similar to Episcopal, except even richer and in the River Oaks Area. Pot? Please, our housekeeper gets his Pot from me, Pot is sooo passe. My parents didn't want to send me to Lamar and expose me to an ounce of diversity. I play sports, but we only play other super rich schools like Episcopal and Kinkaid, so we suck. We claim to be private, but we have no religion classes or real religious affliliation. We used to be called the rebels, but we thought that would offend minority students, but we dont have any of those. I am a Rebel... errr I mean Maverick. *Westbury High School- We used to be a great school kinda like Lamar or Bellaire. But once integration started in the 1970's our school went to hell. My school is in a middle class suburb, but almost none of the white kids in the area go to my school. If I am white that means I am a total screw-up. Even Black students are no longer going here, because of how much our teams suck. We like to "defend our turf" against New Orleans kids. Even though we are mostly minorities, our mascot is a major Confederate symbol. I am a Rebel. *The Kinkaid School- See " St Johns School " except we are in Memorial. more

Resolved Question: Division 1 Baseball recruiting of JuCo players?

Okay, if you are first year player at a junior college, there is a certain term they use called "qualifier" to determine the contacting from division one schools. What do they mean by qualifiers? Resolved Question: if Florida goes Blue, will that give their football programs an edge in recruiting in the SEC?

If it meant the difference between having a two or four year streak of the hottest athletes, would enough fans vote in the best interest of their state's college sports teams? Many voters are fed up with divisive, irrelevant issues. Football is never to be considered irrelevant. Jackie Robinson opened the door in baseball for civil rights. The NFL did the rest for civil rights in football. A Southern city could not be considered for a NFL expansion franchise until the state's Jim Crow laws were wiped off the books. With the passage of the Civil Rights Act of 1964 and the Voting Rights Act of 1965, the Jim Crow laws could be swept into the ashbin of history. They could be. Equal rights on the playing field protect our equal rights in the stands and this Tuesday in the voting booth. Four years from now next year's freshman recruits will be the seniors leading Florida to a national championship.Unless Georgia goes Blue for Obama. Then Georgia and Florida will dominate the SEC, and one will have the national championship. more

Resolved Question: when do division III baseball coaches recruit?!!!?

I've been told by a Div. I coach that I wasn't quite good enough for Division I. However, He said that I would be a very good player at Div. II and one of the best at Div. III. Well, I have chosen to pursue Div. III baseball simply because the schools are better all around than Div. II. I know Div. I coaches tell you if you're in or out by November, and are in contact with you over the summer and fall. When do Div. III coaches do this process? Later I would assume, but when? more

Resolved Question: How many elephants are professional baseballers?

We know nearly every baseballer is a clown with a spade up their backside. That is pretty common knowledge. But how many elephants are in the Major League (which is a minor as sport gets). Voting Question: The amount of years your on varsity isn't everything when it comes to be recruited 4 college baseball? right?

I use to think The amount of years your on varsity baseball would determine if you play D I, D II, or D III. However, I've been to many showcaes this year, I'm a junior going to be a senior, and a lot of even D I programs have shown interest in me. Now, I'm a junior who didn't start this year, but thats because in my school usually the seniors just start mainly no juniors start. Will that affect me being recruited? No right? Cuz its about the talent not the number of letters you have. I'm 5'9'' 145 lbs, so I'm small but I'm a switch hitter who hits for average and plays 2b/SS/3b. I run a 6.8 60 yard dash and have a above average throwing arm. I think I would be a good Div I or Div II prospect. What do you think? more

Resolved Question: I have criminal Chargess and i wish to join the millitary is their a branch that would take me?

my charges are as follows: posession of weapon on school grounds(baseball bat with chained wraped around one end, home made sledge hammer), posession of drug with out perscription( saraquil, a sleeping pill ), underage posession of alcohol, open container in a moving vehicle. all of these charges are from when i was under 18. and were on 2 seperate days. i am currently trying to get a waiver from the airforce. but if that falls through i would like a general idea where to go next. i would also prefer answers from people in the millitary, perferible in the recruiting sector if possible. i have a high asvab score on the practice,88 and would also like to know if that would change anything. more

Resolved Question: baseball dilemma......help with weights???

Ok so I am going to be a sophmore at my high school and last year I was the starting catcher on the JV baseball team. I am 6 foot 155 pounds. Really long legs. I got the perfect pushup at walmart and started doing those (about 100 a day) and started to see a physical improvement in my upperbody strength. However, my throwdowns to 2nd and overall my throws were getting weaker. My arm was feeling really heavy. But here's my dilemma. I know I need to lift weights for baseball, however, This next fall I will be playing on a 18u connie mack team that has recruited me and I don't want to show up there with terrible throws because then everybody will think that I suck and I have no margin for that at all. So should I stop the weights now, or continue weights and have my throws suffer?the perfect pushup is the thing you see on TV commercials they also have the perfect pull up. Basically your holding onto these handles that spin and you start with your elbows out and on the way down you turn your elbows in so it reduces stress on the wrists and shoulders more

When attending a junior or community college, how do they assemble their sports teams, in particular, baseball? I would guess most of the players on a community college baseball team, tryed out and made the team. But I could be wrong. more

The school he currently attends is private, maybe 320 students k thru 12 th grade. They are tough in academics which he has always been a 4.0 student. He is zoned for a good school which has ranked high in test scores, I believe they are 2A and won state championships in basketball, baseball and football. He has the brains and the athletic ability. My brother informed me though that a resume is not supposed to be longer than a page. My question is what if I've done a lot? How am I suppose to compress it? Here it is in case you're wondering how it looks like. What do you guys think? Is it too long? I help run a sports forum, that has about 60 to 80 active users, but people seem to want to branch out a bit more. Resolved Question: would i be cleared by the ncaa clearinghouse?

Wanna talk about close? I have a 2.1 im not sure if its a 2.125 or 2.100 or 2.1 but if your familiar with the clearinghouse the scale says for a 2.1 you need a 970. (I have a 960). Im not sure if my transcripts say I have a 2.125 or just a 2.1. I believe its a 2.1. My real question Im trying to ask is would the NCAA CLEARINGHOUSE be flexible to a 2.1 with a 960 on the SAT? Would they give me the edge to be certified or would they be anal about it? If you have expierience in this matter please help me out a bit, Im being recruited for D1 baseball. more

Resolved Question: Interested in a Baseball Keeper/Auction League?

Fantasy Baseball - Keeper/Auction League Looking for GMs We have a group of solid GMs but are looking to add a few more. We've done weekly head-to-head Yahoo! leagues for about six years now and this year we're adding in an auction to build our rosters and the option of keeping some of the players you have from year to year. Anyone who is a knowledgeable, active and a fan of the game is welcome. Just send me an e-mail if you're interested and I'll get you the details as well as a link to our league's bidding site. We'll probably start the bidding in mid-Feb, just looking to recruit some more good GMs to the league ahead of that. Thanks. more

Resolved Question: Wouldn't it be great for the NHL?

if Bertuzzi and Moore could settle the suit? It would be perfect timing. Baseball has a HUGE black-eye and it'd be a good time to capitilize on pizzed fans who need something to do. We could recruit them into hockey fans! ( I got recruited during the last baseball strike btw)We could run TV ads w/players drinking orange juice.. 'The only juice in the NHL is fruit juice.'True, but if they could settle it would be a relief for the nHL b/c this has been going on too long. I blame the lawyers lawyers almos talways fvck things up worse.lol Bob those are great!umm ya dude ~10% of the MLB are juicers so yes I do know people will stop watching. This a MAJOR. problem fo bball. It's not jsut a little isolated incident. I've already talked to others about it.As for the moore thing it's a grey cloud looming over the NHL it needs to be settled so everyone can move on.and it's stupid of you to think that it would be idiotic people watching it!!! umm like anyone is born knowing anything about hockey [except Canadians] people can learn!!!:P I didn't say Moore was going to get $$ I jsut said the suit needs to be settled. .lol 288 Have a V8 honsally get real. Are you sammy's clone? People who raise their kids in a wussified manner make me sick. Even the Amish have guns they hunt rabbits. more

Resolved Question: Normandy High School Parma Ohio Haunted?

Parma - Normandy High School - The cheerleaders were hazing the new recruits in the 80's when a tile from the gym ceiling fell and struck one of the girls in the head killing her. The cheerleaders didn't want to get in trouble so they threw her body in the woods behind the baseball diamonds. It is said that if you walk in the woods late and night, you can still hear her practicing her cheers. Has anyone ever heard this story or know anything about it or actually witnessed it? more
