Florida College Football Recruiting Questions asked
Resolved Question: Why does everyone think that Pete Carroll "pays" his recruits?
Has it ever occured to you that maybe...just maybe, that Southern California is a hotspot for College kids to go to school? I live in Southern Cal, and love it here. Why would a college kid want to go to school in boring ol' Alabama or Gainesville, Florida? Even Ohio and Michigan are dumps. The Media hypes of California as the place to be, with the beaches, night-life, etc. Its human nature for kids around the nation to come to USC, because like I said, the media makes LA to be a glamorous place. So, people saying that Pete Carroll bribe's kids with a suitcase full of cash is dumb as hell. IF ANYTHING, the kids should pay Carroll to play for such a Great Football Program, and just an overall great place to be. Have you seen USC or UCLA's campus? Its nice.Sports Guru- "Cuz he does"? wow thats the best you got? I'm disappointed, you're a self proclaimed "Sports Guru" and you cant even put up a good argument?Bam Bam- ok lets get our facts straight. Pete Carrol was no way, shape, or form involved in Reggie Bush's fiasco. It was between Reggie's Agent and his family. The Agent bought him a Big House, obviously a NCAA Violation, but Pete Carroll and even school had no idea of the situation.@Bam Bam- wow...just wow. I love how you just nit-picked every little flaw of the state of Caliornia. Most of which is BS. For one thing, I lived in California for the past 15 years, and I've only felt 2 minor earthquakes (and my house is still standing in case you were wondering). Where I live, there is minimal Gang Violence. And the Wildfires were sooo blown out of porportion. Anyways despite all these "bad things", i still would choose to live in LA over Alabama any day of the week. Dont hate on us, go pet your cow or something@ Luke and Felicia- LOL Holy Hell, you haters are dumber than I thought. Dwayne Jarret's problem was that he didnt pay his fair share of rent when he was Matt Leinart's roomate. So Bob Leinart (Matt's father) decided to report to the school. It had NOTHING to do with Pete Carroll, and obviously nothing about Football. You haters never seize to amaze me.@Luke and Felicia- dont lie to yourself, you NEVER lived in LA. Even if you did, how did you become a Sooner fan? stop frontin. moreResolved Question: Which of these two is a better Football coach? (Opinion)?
Here are a few direct claims from my friend. He claims... 1)Lane Kiffin is "ten times" the coach that Urban Meyer will ever be 2)Lane Kiffin "is much, much better" as a recruiter than Urban Meyer 3)Tennessee will "probably" beat Florida this year, and will "for sure" beat them in 2010" So I figured I'd let the online community handle it. 1)Who is the better coach? Why? 2)Who is better at recruiting? Why? 3)Would you rather be a 5-15 NFL coach or a bona fide success at the college level? Thanks for the replies.I'm looking for UNBIASED opinion. As in, I don't care if you sing yourself to sleep to Rocky Top or if you have a Tim Tebow jersey in your closet. If you were to hire Kiffin or Meyer to coach for your school, who would you hire. moreResolved Question: Highschool football recruiting?

So does any1 have any info about college scouting that would helpppp moreResolved Question: Have the The SEC and Big 12 taken over college football?
Seven of the top eight prospects in the ESPNU Top 150 senior class are from Texas The two leagues sit on prime recruiting soil: Texas for the Big 12 and Florida for the SEC. If you're Missouri, Kansas or Colorado, you have to go into Texas for players The SEC and Big 12 have had eight of the 12 championship-game participants over the past six years The top four teams in the final Associated Press Top 25 of December were all from the SEC and Big 12 Fifteen of the 25 members of the AP All-America first team were from the SEC and Big 12. The top five vote-getters for the 2008 Heisman Trophy all were from those two leagues. You see a lot of good quarterbacks in Texas, period. 12 Texas quarterbacks have started bowl games this season, according to the Houston Chronicle. 5 of the top 10 nationally in pass efficiency are from Texas.I know of 2 players from Oklahoma on Tech Football team? I go there so what are you talking about? moreResolved Question: which juco is best to play football at??college of the canyons, El Camino or Mt. SaC.. all 3 are the top jucos?
these schools are probably the best jucos to play football at..and they have the best recruiting to get you to the top programs in D1 like USC, CAL, UCLA, Florida, etc... not like memphis, arkansas state, etc... moreResolved Question: if Florida goes Blue, will that give their football programs an edge in recruiting in the SEC?
If it meant the difference between having a two or four year streak of the hottest athletes, would enough fans vote in the best interest of their state's college sports teams? Many voters are fed up with divisive, irrelevant issues. Football is never to be considered irrelevant. Jackie Robinson opened the door in baseball for civil rights. The NFL did the rest for civil rights in football. A Southern city could not be considered for a NFL expansion franchise until the state's Jim Crow laws were wiped off the books. With the passage of the Civil Rights Act of 1964 and the Voting Rights Act of 1965, the Jim Crow laws could be swept into the ashbin of history. They could be. Equal rights on the playing field protect our equal rights in the stands and this Tuesday in the voting booth. Four years from now next year's freshman recruits will be the seniors leading Florida to a national championship.Unless Georgia goes Blue for Obama. Then Georgia and Florida will dominate the SEC, and one will have the national championship. moreResolved Question: SHOULD ECW BE A RECRUITMENT FOR RAW AND SMACKDOWN.SHOULD IT BE RENAMED? ?
Think about this... College football is big. It's exciting, fast-paced, more tradition oriented then the NFL. They aren't professionals getting paid millions who only have great years when their contract is up. They are amateur student athletes playing for the love of the game. What if the WWE spit the ECW brand Superstars to both the Raw and Smackdown Brand. That would leave ECW to be renamed. FCW should be put to good use. Florida Championship Wrestling wrestlers would get the chance to wrestle on the ECW brand. if they don't make the cut Vince tells them "You're fired" LOL That would be funny. The main event of the night would be either a feud from Raw or Smackdown. It would be something totally different and would probably draw money and ratings and people would want to see who the future stars of today will be. After so many months on the ECW brand later a GM recruits a wrestler to a Raw or Smackdown brand. There would be fractions, tag team champions and women wrestlers. There would be both a women's match and a mens match that would take place at a PPV. What do you think? moreResolved Question: How important is recruiting to a college football program?
Do you think that the college who spends more money on recruiting will sign the recruits who they want to sign? I ask this because of the fact that Kansas State has spent the most money in the Big XII this year on recruiting. They are also # 5 in the nation for the most money spent on recruiting. What does it cost? In a recent story on college sports recruiting in the Chronicle of Higher Education, Kansas State was No. 1 among all Big 12 schools in dollars spent on department-wide recruiting at $1.32 million. That figure also ranked No. 5 in the nation, only behind Tennessee ($2.01 million), Notre Dame ($1.76), Florida ($1.45) and Auburn ($1.37). From the Big 12, Nebraska was seventh ($1.28), Texas was 12th ($1.16), and Oklahoma No. 14 ($1.12). The report indicates that K-State spent $450,000 for the use of private planes used for recruiting purposes. http://www.themercury.com/k-statesports/article.aspx?articleId=2302196e8dcb4cce9cd7a2487fa3fcd7 moreResolved Question: Preseason top 5 for College Football
Who are your top 5 teams for the 2008 College Football season, in order? Mine: 1. Ohio State- A Heisman caliber tailback, an O Line with 3 NFL Prospects, the nations #1 recruit, a former top ranked defense with 3 All Americans and 9 returning starters, and the Sweater Vest, this is not a homer pick, nobody has the talent the Buckeyes do this year. 2. USC- That is a ridiculous defense with Fili Moala, Rey Maualuga, Brian Cushing, and Taylor Mays, but I have them at the 2 spot because of thier unproven offense. There's just too big of a question mark at wideout. 3. Georgia- I really dont see much more than Knowshon Moreno and Geno Atkins to this team. Still, they're very good and have a shot at winning the SEC this season. Matt Stafford hasnt proven himself in my book. That Sugar Bowl win against Hawaii was a gimme. 4. Florida- Tim Tebow and Percy Harvin will lead the best offense in the country by far. The defense should be solid, but the secondary is suspect. They need to prove they can beat the good teams this year, they lost to Auburn, Georgia, LSU and Michigan last year. 5. Missouri- I think Missouri could be better than Oklahoma this year, they have a better offense and a veteran defense. They will not be snubbed of a BCS Bowl like they were last season. moreResolved Question: SEC West ?
What does everybody think about this. This came off of ESPN.com. LSU to repeat in the West July 8, 2008 9:00 AM Posted by ESPN.com's Chris Low We shift our focus to the Western Division today, where Auburn and LSU are the two most talented teams. Both have quarterback questions, though, which could leave the door open for somebody else to sneak up and win the division. My predictions kick everything off again today followed by five questions that could define the West race and then the top three games to watch. Later on today, I'll have a two-part Q&A with Auburn offensive coordinator Tony Franklin, who's had the Chick-fil-A Bowl and spring practice to put in his spread offense. 1. LSU: There's an old adage in football that says muscle up front both offensively and defensively wins every time over the flash and dash of skill players. Nobody in the SEC has a better combination of offensive line personnel and front-seven personnel on defense than the defending national champion Tigers. On offense, center Brett Helms, massive guard Herman Johnson and tackle Ciron Black are all All-SEC caliber players. And even with the loss of Glenn Dorsey on defense, the Tigers return Tyson Jackson and Kirston Pittman at the ends, as well as BCS national championship star Ricky Jean-Francois, who can play both tackle and end. The best thing about Ryan Perrilloux's dismissal was that he didn't go through any of spring practice, meaning there won't be as big an adjustment this fall to redshirt freshman Jarrett Lee and junior Andrew Hatch. Lee is the likely starter at quarterback. He'll be asked to be more of a caretaker than anything, and it's always nice to have the stable of running backs and receivers that will surround him. LSU has to go to Auburn on Sept. 20 and hasn't won at Jordan-Hare Stadium since 1998, but that drought ends this season. 2. Auburn: Tommy Tuberville has been so consistent at Auburn and won so many big games that you wonder if his success is taken for granted on the Plains. Never shy about shaking things up, Tuberville has a new offensive coordinator (Tony Franklin) and a new defensive coordinator (Paul Rhoads) this season. The Tigers will also have a new quarterback. Sophomore Kodi Burns and junior college transfer Chris Todd exited spring practice in a battle that was too close to call. Todd is the better passer, but was plagued by a sore throwing shoulder all spring. Franklin enters the season expecting both to play. The defense will be a trademark Tuberville defense - fast, aggressive and nasty. End Antonio Coleman and tackle Sen'Derrick Marks will be two of the better defensive linemen in the league. The schedule also works out nicely for the Tigers, who get Tennessee, LSU and Georgia all at home. Auburn is plenty good enough to win the division and just might, but I think LSU is a little bit better up and down both lines of scrimmage. 3. Alabama: A toss-up here between Alabama and Mississippi State, but I think the Crimson Tide's touted signing class will be enough to get them in the top half of the division. This team will look more like a Nick Saban team from start to finish this season. In other words, don't look for another epic collapse in November. Much of the burden falls on senior quarterback John Parker Wilson. When he played well last season, Alabama usually played well. Wilson likes what he's seen of new offensive coordinator Jim McElwain's system and wants to spread the ball out to more of his playmakers this fall. Look for freshmen to play key roles on both offense and defense. The Crimson Tide are especially thin at linebacker. Judging from the number of arrests (10 within the last year), Saban is still trying to get the kind of grip he wants on this team. He's acted quickly on the more serious infractions. If the Tide are going to make some legitimate noise in the West race this season, the last thing they need is more off-the-field trouble. All in all, this team still lacks the kind of quality depth it takes to win big in the SEC. 4. Mississippi State: Mississippi State's patience with Sylvester Croom was rewarded last season, as the Bulldogs won eight games and their first bowl game since 2000. Croom was named the SEC Coach of the Year and just recently pocketed a new contract extension and raise that takes his annual salary to $1.7 million. It's well deserved for a man who walked into a mess at Mississippi State when he arrived in 2004. Croom is adamant that the Bulldogs' best days are ahead of them. For that to happen, they need to add more offensive firepower. Croom has tried increase the speed on the offensive side to match that of the defense. But outside of 240-pound running back Anthony Dixon, the Bulldogs don't have a surplus of proven offensive weapons. Senior free safety Derek Pegues leads a defense that was opportunistic and rock-solid a year ago. One thing we know about Croom's teams is that they don't quit, nor do they discourage easily. The Bulldogs will win a couple of big games this season. They just won't win enough of them to challenge for the West title. 5. Mississippi: Seeing Houston Nutt strolling the Ole Miss sidelines will be strange, but Nutt will be the first to tell you: It was time for him to get out of Arkansas, and most of the Hog Nation feels the same way. For all that former Ole Miss coach Ed Orgeron did wrong during his three-year stay in Oxford, he did recruit pretty well in spots. So Nutt has some talent to work with, and he's also got a quarterback that Ole Miss fans are anxious to see. Texas transfer Jevan Snead had a big spring and gave the Rebels a dimension in the passing game they never had under Orgeron. The other guy to watch on offense is incoming freshman tailback Enrique Davis, who was one of the top prep school players in the country a year ago. Nutt joked a few weeks ago that Davis sure did look good on film and that "we're going to find out real quick how good he is on the field." Looking at the Rebels' schedule, it's not too big a stretch to think that they could be 4-0 heading into their trip to Florida on Sept. 27. 6. Arkansas: Bobby Petrino says Arkansas needs to be his last job. Well, seeing is believing. A coaching nomad for most of his career, Petrino is back in the college game after leaving the Atlanta Falcons in the middle of the night last year. He's got his work cut out these first couple of years. The Razorbacks are replacing just about everybody on offense and defense. Casey Dick is the quarterback for now, but Petrino said following spring practice that Dick will have to work to keep that job. The Hogs were so run-oriented under Houston Nutt that you wonder how well and how quickly these players will adjust to Petrino's fast-paced, pass-driven offense. That kind of transformation doesn't just happen overnight. It takes recruiting classes and patience. Then again, it didn't take long for Petrino to make Louisville an offensive juggernaut. He's one of the best offensive strategists out there and keeps teams off balance with an array of different formations and aggressive play-calling. As good as Petrino is, he'll need to be a miracle worker for the Hogs to be a factor this season. Getting to seven wins would be a coup. moreResolved Question: Who are college football's fastest players for the upcoming 2009 season?
fastest players in 2009 my list so far goes somewhere along these lines in descending order from fastest obvious 1 is trindon holliday - lsu rb/wr 10.02 100m are you kidding me? that's well past the olympic qualifying time for the 100m jacoby ford - clemson wr/kr/pr jahvid best - cal rb michael ray garvin - fsu cb jamere holland - oregon wr deonte thompson - florida wr percy harvin - florida wr/rb rodney glass - asu rb ray small - osu wr/pr/kr cj spiller - clemson rb lamaar thomas - osu incoming freshman rb/wr brandon saine - osu rb unless you're a true college football recruiting follower and speed freak you might not know some of these names regardless, what do you think? and provide evidence 100m times 40 times preferably ELECTRIC not some cheap stop watch timed from an overly excited strength coach if you can try to provide sources to back up your evidence articles, videos, etc i'm sure i'm missing some guys fill me in i'll add a couple more as i remember@stiffler well i dont buy into the whole SEC speed thing if you noticed the fastest players in the country come from all around and usually when you're running sub 10.5 100m's your football speed is going to faster than anyone on the field. Speed doesnt necessarily mean you're going to be a good player but speed is speed not matter what surface your running on, what you're holding, or what you have on your back. And the SEC is known for having faster defenses not really offenses. Speed comes from all conferences for example ted ginn, reggie bush, devin hester all didn't play in the SEC moreResolved Question: To anyone who follows high school football recruiting..?

What do think of my theory why?
Florida is in the top 3 with Texas and California in high school football talent. Miami and Florida St. along with Alabama and Georgia are no longer bringing in those super talented high school kids the way they did in past years. These kids still stay in state and attend college. I believe South Florida is scooping up these kids by the dozens. I believe the South Florida Bulls with be this generations Miami Hurricanes. Believe it or not Miami was once an unknown team until they started whooping up on everyone just like South Florida is doing. Imagine the recruiting class the SF Bulls will bring in the next few years. They are already close to Miami. Tampa is a great city to live in. Imagine how good the Bucs will be if they can get some of these kids after they finish school. Do you think I'm misguided or can you understand my logic?Guys evidentially they already have the talent away from Miami and Florida St. They are winning and Miami and Florida are not winning. This means they already have the talent that the South Florida talent coming to there school. The Bucs can get all of the players who sign as free agents.I use the word dynasy in the sense of being a top 25 consistantly team for years to come. moreResolved Question: Do you think that South Florida has used questionable tactics to get to where they are today?
They have had a football team for 11 years. They are recruiting against 3 in state schools that have been the upper echelon of college football for decades. For some reason Tricky Nicky Saban, who was a resident of south Florida for a couple of years, comes out and says that they allow players to come there that could not get accepted at the other Florida shcools. I think there is something fishy going on down there. Do you? moreResolved Question: College Football Recruiting...?

Talking from High school level to Pro level in Every Major Sport. I say Florida. The Miami Heat, and both of U of Floridas mens college teams ( football, basketball) have Championships now. They are also very strong in High school Recruits. California 2, Texas 3..... moreResolved Question: Pick a College to play football and basketball, in 2007/2008, for: Texas, Florida, Ohio State, USC.?
I'll go with Texas, for football. The state of Texas has a Hollywood-like tradition/attraction. Plus, UT is recruiting 5-Star and 4-Star athletes at will. They will be extremely tough, next year. Players like QB-Colt McCoy, RB-Jamaal Charles, WR-Limas Sweed, WR-Billy Pittman, the O-line, RB-Fozzy Whitaker, RB-Vondrell McGee and a speed-laced defense will be VERY tough to stop. Look for the Horns to be in the Top 5 Championship hunt, along with USC and Florida. I'll go with Florida, for basketball. It looks like Donovan knows what he's doing. If he stays, it wont matter who he has on the team...they will win, alot! Many players, analysts and fellow coaches have expressed that he has the "it" factor. He could take his players and beat your players, then take your players and beat his. moreResolved Question: Do D-1 Colleges only recruit from D-1 and D-2 schools?
Im 15 and i play football for a D-4 school in Ohio and i was wandering do Colleges like Texas,Ohio State, Florida, Notre Dame Send scouts or even give scholarships to ne body from smaller schools ? moreResolved Question: SEC Champs.....National Champs.......Recruiting Champ? So why the USC hype?
Ok......USC, is a great team, one of the best. But, why does everybody always blow them up? UCLA cut their a$$......they have many flaws? So why does everyone say they are so much better overall than the Florida Gators. I feel like the Gators proved/will continue to prove that they are the best college football team by far. Boise State, again, a great team.........but don't waste my time and tell me that they could beat the Gators. Good game with Oklahoma, but........Ohio State beat em, walked the dog on OK, and Boise had to beat em in overtime. Then All Mighty Florida rapes Ohio St........There shouldn't be an argument, tell me what you think! moreResolved Question: Though the season is over who do you think will college footballs national championship next year?
The experts have said Michigan, Usc, Florida, Auburn are the front runners. Michigan has a Q.B recruit named Ryan Mallette coming to Michigan next year. They say he's actually the best Q.B in the country. They claim he's much better then the #1 ranked Clausen kid that's going to Notre Dame. In the army all - american game his numbers were twice as good as Clausens though they both played for the same team. moreResolved Question: Recruited from lousy higshcool to Div. 1 college? football?
I'm currently in 8th grade in Worthington, Ohio. I've been a huge Florida Gator fan all my life and really want to play football there. but our highschool football team is pretty bad. And my family is trying to decide if we're going to move down to Florida this summer or stay up here for highschool. So I wanted to know if it's possible to get recruited from here by Florida. I plan on going to the Florida and the Ohio State Football camps this summer and sending a highlight film in my sophmore or junior seasons. My friends are trying to convince me to stay with them but I have to think about my future. All help is apreciated. moreResolved Question: MTV two-a-days, for sanyone watching the show plz provide input?
ve watched two-a-days, and its pretty ok, But i just want to get one thing straight. Im so tired of everyone on that show saying stuff like "In Alabama football is everythin" and i especialy hate it when they say that they're better than everyone in the country. Well i got news for u southerners, no offense, but theres loads of football talent all over the country not just in Alabama. In Virginia, high school football is huge, we play it right down here too. West Texas- armed and fully loaded with talent, Florida- y else do u think that Univrsity of Florida, Florida State and University of Miami are so good? by the way more than half the nfl players are from those schools, and the state of Florida. Sure, Hoover's team is extremely talented, but there r other places that regard football just as important. And another thing, the show doesn't feature the best players. I havent seen that alex kid make a single good play on that show. In both the episodes i saw, the wide reciever- dont know his name, and their running back were gaining a lot of yards and touchdonws. but instead they make freakin alex the protagonist, he wasnt even recruited by any college- dont belive me go online, ull find out that hes not even playing football any more, hes playing baseball at some community college. I think that max and Repete are good too, so is ross, but not alex, has anyone even seen him make a tackle? seriously? who agrees or disagrees with me? moreResolved Question: MTV's Two-a-days opinion?

Explain why you picked each team at each slot. Please give valid info. Everyone is entitled to their opinion so dont bring anyone down. Here's my top 5: 1. Ohio St.- best team in the country, one of the top QB's in the nation, should fill holes on d. Expect them to make the BCS Title Game. 2. Notre Dame- They have Quinn, Samardjza, and Walker back. Good recruiting class, and should gave a good defense. 3. USC- John Booty/Mark Sanchez will make most USC forget about Matt Leinart. Booty should fill in well right away. They have mainy young athletes with experience and they should have a great defense. 4. W.VA- they have speed and a lot of athletes, good recruiting class helps, and they have White and Slaton back 5. Florida- Had the best recruiting class for 06, plenty of stars back including Leak. Should have one of the best WR cores in the nation, and should have one of the top defenses also. Why cant anyone answer a fricken question??? moreTop Florida College Football Recruiting Links
