Junior College Basketball Recruiting Questions asked

Voting Question: College scholarships need help?

Ok out of curiosity im about 6'8 i play basketball but mostly im only into sports and stuff do some colleges look into stuff like that for recruiting players. also don't they give you a workout plan that gets you to where they want you. Also im a junior in highschool right now and my grades are decent to good. more

Resolved Question: Walk-On at the Quarterback position without any high school experience?

Ok, thanks to Michigan I now know that yes you CAN walk on at the QB position. Well, in my case, I go to a Magnet School (high school with HIGH academic standards) so we do not have a football program at all. I really want to play football but so far there have not been any camps around the area I live in or any other alternatives. I have been running and throwing the football a lot and I know for a fact I can go out there and compete (waits for unemployed recruiter to troll). This type of thing stresses me. I am an honor roll student at a difficult school (magnet school) and I have yet to take the SAT (I am in the 1st semester of my Junior year in High School) but on the practice SATs I have scored high. So grades are NOOOOTTTTT one bit of a problem so hold back the rants on that. As for my stress, I REALLY want to play QB at a college level, I mean I would fight Kimbo Slice right now if it guaranteed me earning a shot at the Quarterback position at a division 1A or division 1AA college. I mean Quarterback, no other position. Also, I may get accepted into an Ivy League school, so here are my questions (after I have provided the background information). 1. Will I get an OPPORTUNITY to show D-1A recruits how good I can play and show them some promise or will they say, "sorry, no high school football, no opportunity"? 2. Is it true that at Ivy League schools they do not recruit for football? 3. Is there a case where someone who did not play quarterback in high school ended up playing to on a college (D-1, D-2, or D3) or even NFL level? 4. I am Indian (India), will my race play a factor in me getting to play Quarterback at a Division 1a or Ivy League school? Or even a D-1AA school? 5. What can I do right now to prepare myself to play Quarterback at a D-1A level? I am kinda chubby but I have lost most of my potbelly and I am starting to develop a 6 pack now, the last time (1 year ago) when I ran the 40 yd dash at my cousin's school (I was visiting, unfortunately my stubborn parents will not let me go there) my time was 4.6. As you can see, I am passionate about this. Day and night this thought just haunts my dream, I have come too far in life in order for someone to say no. I used to be the dumbest kid in elementary school according to teachers but after that I made nothing but A's. I did not even know a word in English when I was 11 and the English language teacher told me "You are an idiot that will never learn English", now I am taking AP Literature and have an A in it (I was born in Chicago but my family moved a lot to different countries like France and Germany). I could not even make a free throw in Basketball in middle school and the coach told me I suck at it, now I easily make three pointers. I know I can do it but will I ever get an opportunity to be a Quarterback? more

Resolved Question: Jordan Jock Much?......have you said?

Have you ever said these things........ "If Jordan did'nt retire the Bull's would have won 8 Titles"......(neglecting the fact that MJ did return in 1995....and lost) "I did'nt make the basketball team..... It's ok....even Michael Jordan got cut in Highschool"....(Media Lies!!!!!.... Michael Jordan never got cut!....he tried out for Varsity his sophmore year, but the coach put him on the JV squad instead!....his Junior and senior year he played Varsity and was recruited by UNC!) "Michael Jordan carried a bunch of scrubs without a Center! to 6 Titles, that's why he's the best"....(Michael Jordan Could'nt carry his college team to Title!....then he played 7 years in the NBA before he could win a Title....so how come he could'nt carry his teams those other years? Answer - He could'nt win in the NBA UNTIL he was surrounded by HOF/allstar players!....Pippen is a Top 50 alltime player! Horace Grant made the allstar team without MJ!...BJ Armstrong made the allstar team without playing with MJ!...Rodman won Titles and was DPOYear without playing with MJ...Toni Kukoc was the greatest European Player without MJ!.....who needs a big man with all that talent?)..PS: Lot's of teams won Titles without a Dominant Big man! more

Resolved Question: How Do I Get Recruited For College Basketball?

I'm wondering how to get recruited for college basketball. I play high school ball in Anchorage, Alaska, so I'm not exactly in a hot recruiting zone. I'm 6' 5" forward, probably going to end up 6'8". I have a 4.0 GPA, so grades aren't a problem. I'm a junior, but the youngest kid in my class and play basketball every waking minute. I can shoot well from about 20 feet and closer, but too slow to play a guard. The thing is my coach isn't going to lift a finger to help me out and no one looks at Alaska. I'm not expecting to play D1 but I want to play college ball. Can anyone help me out? more

Resolved Question: I would really love to play Division 3 basketball someday?

Now I'm 20 years old and started playing again 2 months ago (I haven't played in like a year, due to injuries - torn knee ligament but after recovering I never really picked it up again). The thing is I'm willing to work hard everyday, I have 60 credits from a 4 year uni, and I will be transferring to a junior college next semester because I don't like my current school. I also only plan to stay in junior college for a semester and apply as a transfer. What would it take to get myself back to my high school level and get recruited or tryout for a division 3 team after I leave junior college? My junior college has really talented players so I doubt I'll make the team next semester, but would intramural and self practice be enough to get me ready? I'm also planning to train extremely hard summer 09 and get ready for tryouts for the school I'm hoping to attend. Would I have enough time? If so, what kind of workout plan should I follow? It would be great if someone can give me some advice and direction as I really intend to train hard. I know over training can be dangerous, so I'll balance it out. Thanks and please take this question seriously without insulting remarks, I really appreciate the help. You may be brutally honest, because I don't know what it takes to be a division 3 player. more

Resolved Question: How likely is it from a 6'7 245 junior in college to get recruited to a d 3 school?

Voting Question: What's Best for me?

Hey, I'm about 14 years old, 5ft 8 I live in the Middle east. I am one of the best Basketball players in my school. But the problem is I'm staring Sophomore year soon, and I want to be recruited by a good college and i realized scouts don't come to the middle east. I tried applying for schools in the United States, but i couldn't afford the expenses. By the end of sophomore year Ill be heading to the Junior year which will be hell becuase of the IB program which wont give me time to play or Practice. Including My school dosent even care about Players who have good chances of becoming Pros. So I decided to Spend one more year and try to join sport clubs. Please Tell me if I should go to High School with good Basketball Program. more

Resolved Question: What are some good high school basketball showcases in New England/New York/New Jersey?

I've already signed up for a few showcases for this summer's basketball season, but I'm looking to get in on a few more. I'm going to Hoop Mountain and Hoop Group camps but I'm looking for some more. I'm just looking for exposure in front of college coaches. I'm a junior and have been recruited by some D3 schools, but I feel this summer could really help me reach the next level. Can someone please help me out with some camps/showcases? Thanks. more

Resolved Question: How do I get recruiting letters for basketball when I didn't play my junior year?

I had really bad knee tendonitis and when I did play, I was well below my potential (plus, the coach put me on JV). I already sent my info to at least six colleges, with only one response. How do I get letters like this guy before the start of basketball for 08-09? There is no AAU team, but I could send a video. http://cjonline.com/images/071606/39544_270.jpg Plus, I'm 6-3 180 (gained 10 pounds of muscle over the offseason so far) and has a 35" vert more

Resolved Question: Do I Stand A Good Chance At Being Recruited For College Basketball?

Ok, here's the situation. I'm a junior in high school right now, I averaged 8 pts 5 reb. this year. Only because I had an all-ohio point guard averaging 22 pts and 4 ast. and others in doubles. They are all graduating this year and I am the only returning starter. I'm 6'6 and I weigh 195lbs. Next year can only help my chances because I solid offensively, but great defensive (I can really jump also). I play for one of the best AAU teams in Ohio, The Ohio Gators. Do I have a chance of being recruited, I dont care where? more

Resolved Question: Which College should I go to? Marist, Monmouth, Rutgers, Hofstra, or Lehigh?

Ok, this is difficult. I'm at the end of my Junior year in HS and I'm trying to narrow down my College options. I really like Marist and Rutgers. Monmouth seems pretty nice. Hofstra seems ok and Lehigh is only an option b/c I've been kinda getting recruited for basketball. Can anybody help me out with some pros and cons of each college (Especially Rutgers). I hear things about the size of Rutgers and some love it but some hate it. I also have a few freinds going to Rutgers including my best friend and 3 or 4 really close friends who are getting full rides for sports. But, my other best friend who I've known since I was in Kindergarten wants to go to a Medium Size school like Marist and I'm not sure if I should go with him or my other friends. It's very difficult and I didn't even take the SAT's yet so I still have to get excepted and everything but can you guys please help me out?! Thanks in advance! Also how hard is it to get into Rutgers? Right now I have about a 3.5 but I can get it up to around 3.7 - 3.9 and I know I'll murder the SAT's. So let's say I end up with a 3.8 and about 1800 on the SAT's, would I get in? What else can I do to get in? more

Resolved Question: Are there any sites where I can create my own sports website for free?

I'm in my junior year of high school, and I play basketball and volleyball. I heard that to get recruited to play in college you should have a website. I can't afford to pay to have this done, so was wondering if there are any places where I could make one for free more

Resolved Question: College Basketball Recruiting Question ?? Please Help?

Or do I still have a chance with my lack of years playing ? **I would accept going to a Division 2 college** more

I will be a 1st generation Black college student. I am planning on majoring in either liberal arts or communications. Not really sure. Please offer some safety, target and reach colleges in TX or VA that I could apply to with my credentials. Large or small doesn't matter. Any college that's academically excellent and supports well-rounded students is great. I also would LOVE to go to Yale. But that's probably not gonna happen. But it doesn't mean I can't try. Thanks.I am really not sure what I want to do when I get older. I'm very good at writing and history which would explain why I am in AP English and AP U.S. History. Would you mind offering me some majors that fit my skill sets and interests as well? more
